Supply Chain Q&A With Jarl
January 16, 2020MFP’s Fight Against COVID-19
April 16, 2020It’s no secret that happy employees produce better bottom lines for companies. By maintaining a positive, fun, and dependable company culture, businesses are able to thrive in the industry and pass that mentality and positive results down to their customer base. At MFP, we are not only aware of this approach but strive to enhance it every chance we get.
One unique way to increase teamwork is to host events outside of work hours. Whether bowling, grabbing a meal or hitting a few balls on the links, teamwork and dependability shouldn’t stop once clocked out of the office. A great example of how we maintain this is hosting a company appreciation golf outing each summer. Whether folks are first-timers or pros, the golf course is a great place to catch up and either strengthen or create new bonds. Many of the golfers are paired outside of their departments. Having conversations about life strengthens attitudes and loyalties between individuals and ultimately, departments in the office.
Yet another way we work towards increasing communication and comradery between folks on-site at MFP is to engage in activities called “Minute to Win It.” During everyone’s lunch hour, we prepare a quick contest that requires engagement and teamwork. What typically ensues is 5 minutes of chaotic and hilarious competition and team building, resulting in a reprieve from the daily work and routine. Joe Tidd, our resident Minute to Win It expert and host initiated this idea several years ago and we’ve seen great success and a demand for more over the years. Joe has helped preserve and boost morale, as well as improve the company culture. “It’s a show of fun, energy, and often hilarity that lasts for weeks to come. Who doesn’t want to watch the company President carry a pop can across the room with a straw? It’s all in good fun and sure beats sitting alone at your desk eating lunch that day.”
Whatever your company’s game, strategy, or activity is, we’re sure the team will make long-lasting memories and strengthen ties both in and out of the office.
